Questions answered

When do the physical editions of Halloween: The Game release?
October 6, 2026, on PS5 and Xbox Series X. The official announcement states that "The Standard Edition and Limited Collector’s Edition are launching on PS5 and Xbox Series X on October 6, 2026," and that physical pre-orders are available through select retailers. The digital release came earlier, on September 8, 2026.
Is the game actually on the disc?
Yes. The publisher answers this directly in the physical editions FAQ: "The physical editions of Halloween: The Game will feature the game on the disc." The same post does not say whether the disc still needs a day-one update or an internet connection to play.
How much is the Limited Collector’s Edition?
$149.99 USD, against $39.99 USD for the Physical Standard Edition. Both figures come from the pricing question in the same official announcement, which also labels the Collector’s Edition as having limited quantities available.
Do physical pre-orders include the Phantom Michael Myers skin?
No. Asked whether physical pre-orders give players the Phantom Michael Myers skin, the official FAQ replies that "The Phantom Michael Myers skin is a Digital Pre-order Exclusive." The separate pre-order announcement adds that the Digital Pre-Order Exclusive Michael Myers skin will not be available for purchase after the pre-order period ends.
Can you get the physical edition cosmetics without buying a boxed copy?
According to the official FAQ, yes. The Advance Access cosmetic items can be instantly unlocked by players who purchase a physical edition, "but can also be obtained by completing various in-game challenges." Which specific challenge unlocks which cosmetic is not published, so that mapping is not listed here.

When does the Halloween: The Game physical edition come out?

The boxed release arrives on October 6, 2026, on PS5 and Xbox Series X. That is the date and the platform pair given in the official physical editions announcement, which also confirms that “Physical pre-orders are now available through select retailers!” The same post places the disc release after the digital one: “The physical editions of Halloween: The Game will launch on October 6, 2026, following the digital release on September 8.” So if you already own the digital copy, the boxed version is a later, separate product rather than a re-release of the same window.

Which consoles get a boxed copy?

FormatNamed in the official physical announcement
PS5Yes — the launch post names PS5
Xbox Series XYes — the launch post names Xbox Series X
Xbox Series SNot named
PC (disc)Not named; PC is sold through the digital storefronts linked from the official site

Two things follow, and only one of them is an official statement. First, the announcement lists exactly two console platforms; the empty rows above are gaps in that wording, not confirmed refusals. Second, a disc-based SKU needs a console with a disc drive, which is a general fact about the hardware rather than something this game’s post discusses. Neither point adds a platform to the list.

For the full digital platform picture, see Platforms and PC Requirements, which covers PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Steam, and the Epic Games Store, and deliberately stays away from edition contents.

What is in the Physical Standard Edition?

The official contents list for the $39.99 USD Standard Edition, quoted item by item:

  • Halloween: The Game
  • Michael Myers Clown Skin (Advance Access)
  • 2 Civilian Cosmetics (Advance Access)
  • Exclusive Halloween Poster

The wording matters: this tier says “2 Civilian Cosmetics (Advance Access),” not “2 Exclusive Civilians.” The two are different labels on different pages, and this page keeps each one as published rather than normalising them into a single claim.

What is in the Limited Collector’s Edition?

The $149.99 USD tier is named the Limited Collector’s Edition, and the announcement carries the note “Limited quantities available” directly above its contents:

  • Halloween: The Game
  • Michael Myers Clown Skin (Advance Access)
  • Michael Myers Samhain Skin (Advance Access)
  • 4 Civilian Cosmetics (Advance Access)
  • Exclusive Halloween Poster
  • Shape Jump Variant Action Figure
  • Exclusive Lenticular Art
  • And More Surprises!

That last line is the publisher’s own. It is an unnamed category, so nothing in this page describes what those surprises are. The Collector’s Edition adds one Michael Myers skin, two more civilian cosmetics, a figure, and a lenticular piece over the Standard tier — a $110 difference between the two official prices. The physical cosmetics attach to the Heroes of Haddonfield roster and the Michael Myers skins shown on their own pages, which cover character identity rather than which storefront hands you which outfit.

Is the game on the disc?

Yes — the announcement answers this as a FAQ question. Asked “Is the game on the disc for the physical versions of Halloween: The Game?”, the official reply is:

The physical editions of Halloween: The Game will feature the game on the disc.

This question matters because some modern “physical” game releases ship a code in the box instead of playable data. That is not what the publisher states here.

What the post does not say: whether the disc still requires a mandatory day-one update, whether an internet connection is needed to play, or how much of the download a disc actually spares you. Those would need a real install test, so they are left out — including in the escape and progression guides, which describe what you play rather than how you install it.

How do the boxed editions compare with the digital ones?

The two official announcements describe four different content bundles, and the cosmetic sets do not overlap the way people expect. Here is each list exactly as published.

Edition (official name)Official priceCosmetic and extra contents as listed
Physical Standard Edition$39.99 USDClown Skin (Advance Access), 2 Civilian Cosmetics (Advance Access), Exclusive Halloween Poster
Physical Limited Collector’s Edition$149.99 USDClown Skin (AA), Samhain Skin (AA), 4 Civilian Cosmetics (AA), Exclusive Halloween Poster, Shape Jump Variant Action Figure, Exclusive Lenticular Art, “And More Surprises!”
Digital Standard Edition$39.99 USDThe base game; the pre-order offer added the Digital Pre-order Exclusive Phantom Michael Myers Skin
Digital Deluxe Edition$59.99 USDExclusive Inmate Michael Myers Skin, Two Exclusive Civilian Characters: Richard and Alexis, Advance Access for the “Final Girl” Laurie Strode cosmetic, Halloween: The Game Comic

Three differences are worth noticing before you buy:

  1. Different Michael Myers skins. The boxed tiers carry the Clown and Samhain skins; the digital Deluxe carries the Inmate skin; the digital pre-order carried Phantom. No official page describes any of these as interchangeable.
  2. Different civilian wording. The physical post says civilian cosmetics; the digital Deluxe says two exclusive civilian characters, named Richard and Alexis.
  3. Physical buyers do not get the digital pre-order bonus. Asked “Do Physical pre-orders give players the Phantom Michael Myers Skin?”, the official answer is that “The Phantom Michael Myers skin is a Digital Pre-order Exclusive.” The pre-order post goes further: the Digital Pre-Order Exclusive Michael Myers skin “will not be available for purchase after the pre-order period ends.”

There is also a Digital Deluxe Upgrade path rather than a repurchase. The pre-order FAQ promised it — “Players will have the option of purchasing the Digital Deluxe Edition Upgrade at launch, which includes the 2 Exclusive Civilian Characters, 1 Exclusive Michael Myers Skin, and more surprises!” — and the Steam store data now records that product as Halloween: Digital Deluxe Upgrade at $19.99, released September 8, 2026. Whether the same upgrade exists on PlayStation, Xbox, or Epic is not recorded on the pages used here.

For the price-and-timing comparison of the digital tiers on their own terms, see the Editions and Price Guide, which explicitly covers digital editions only; this page covers the boxed ones. The Is Halloween: The Game Free? answer stays the same for either format: every one of these is a paid product.

Can you unlock the physical cosmetics without the disc?

Yes, on the publisher’s own account. Asked whether the Advance Access Michael Myers skins and Civilian cosmetics are exclusive to the physical editions, the official FAQ answers:

The Advance Access cosmetic items can be instantly unlocked for players who purchase the physical editions of Halloween: The Game, but can also be obtained by completing various in-game challenges.

So “Advance Access” is an instant-unlock label, not a permanent exclusivity label. The challenge system itself is described at a high level in the progression and customization guide. What no official page publishes is the mapping — which specific challenge grants which cosmetic — so this page does not list one.

What should you check before ordering a boxed copy?

  1. Confirm the platform wording matches your console. The announcement names PS5 and Xbox Series X only.
  2. Expect retailer variation, not price variation. The official answer to where you can pre-order is “Please check your preferred retailer for availability.” Prices quoted above are the publisher’s USD figures; what a given shop charges, bundles, or discounts is that shop’s business and is not verified here.
  3. Compare contents, not just price. The boxed tiers and the digital Deluxe share a price point and almost no cosmetic items. See the release date and early access timeline for why the disc cannot give you the September 4 early-access window, which closed before it shipped.
  4. Factor the age rating into a retail purchase. A boxed copy changes nothing about content classification: this title is rated M (Mature 17+) by the ESRB, with the descriptors and the developer’s own content note broken out on the age rating page.
  5. Decide separately about the extras. The figure, poster, and lenticular art are Collector’s Edition items, and the “More Surprises” line is unpublished. If you are buying for the disc alone, the Standard Edition is the tier the official post prices at the same $39.99 as the digital Standard.

What this page does not confirm

It does not claim a physical PC or Xbox Series S version exists or is ruled out; the announcement simply does not name them. It does not claim retailer stock, regional pricing, per-country release times, or any shop-specific bundle, and it deliberately quotes no reseller figures. It does not claim the disc plays without an update or without an internet connection. It does not say what the Collector’s Edition “More Surprises” are. It does not map individual challenges to individual cosmetics. It does not claim that cosmetics bought or unlocked on one platform appear on another, and it does not assert that the $19.99 Deluxe Upgrade exists outside Steam. And it makes no judgement about whether either boxed tier is worth the money — that is a personal value call, not a store fact.
